Daniel Kelley passed away on Nov. 22 after a brief illness.
Danny, as he was fondly known by friends and family, was born in Damariscotta to Agnes Willey and Roland Kelley on April 4, 1950. He resided for many years on the family homestead in Bremen with his brother, Maynard and uncle, Charlie. He eventually moved out of the family home and into his own apartment. This move was something he was very proud of and had worked towards with support from dedicated staff at Mobius.
Danny was a quick learner and always enjoyed learning new things; most recently he found a passion for martial arts and exceeded everyone’s expectations with his demonstrations of balance and strength. Dan loved to dance and always enjoyed a quick turn around the dance floor to his favorite country music, or really any kind of music could get Dan dancing. Danny was a lover of horses and all things “Western.” He was the hero, the good guy and his passing has left a hole in our community. He never let his circumstances get him down and he always picked himself up by his (cowboy) boot straps.
Danny is predeceased by his parents; sisters, Rebecca and Brenda; brother, Jerry; and uncle, Charles Robbins.
He is survived by sisters, Sandra Ripley, and Shirley Glidden and husband Kenneth Glidden; brothers, Maynard Wiley, Philip Kelley and wife Alfreda, and Gene Kelley and wife Deborah; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life held for Danny will be at 11 a.m., Mon., Dec. 3 on at the Lincoln County Assembly of God. A light lunch will be served following the celebration.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mobius, Inc. to support horseback riding.
