David A. Hatch, 62, of Damariscotta, passed away July 17 at his home in Damariscotta surrounded by his loving family.
Dave was born Sept. 12, 1943 in Damariscotta, a son of the late Frederic Boynton Hatch and Evelyn Hatch. He grew up in Damariscotta and attended local schools, graduating from Lincoln Academy in the Class of 1962.
In 1964 he married Brenda Hinds and started his career working at Louis French just out of high school. He worked at Louis French’s for 44 years; part owner for many years and became the owner in 1993. He was still working up to the time of his recent illness.
Dave was a member of Ducks Unlimited, National Rifle Association, and was involved in all activities outdoors including hunting, fishing, boating, ice fishing, snowmobiling and spending time in Jackman guiding hunts with his son, Daniel. He was a really good cook and enjoyed his son Darren’s creative dishes; he would say, “second to none,” loved Pemaquid Pond and most of all, loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Brenda Hatch; father, Frederic Boynton Hatch; and brother, Dana Hatch.
Survivors include his sons, Darren Hatch and his wife Cathy of Round Pond, and Daniel Hatch and his companion Brea Benner of Nobleboro; granddaughter, Maranda Hatch of Newcastle; step-grandson, Ryan Ball and his wife Nicole of Nobleboro; mother, Evelyn “Evie” Hatch of Damariscotta; brother, Fred Hatch and his wife Claudia of New Harbor, sister, Pam Reed and her husband Bobby of Damariscotta; sister-in-law, Lori Harris and her husband Bob of Round Pond; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Fri., July 21 at Hillside Cemetery in Damariscotta with the Rev. Robert Dorr officiating.
