David Bryer, 83, of Vienna, died April 27 at his daughter, Jeanette Reed’s home in Wiscasset.
He was born in Damariscotta on Nov. 3, 1930, a son of Harold A. and Susan E. (Gray) Bryer. He graduated from Boothbay High School and entered the U.S. Army. On Jan. 17, 1954 he married Beverly A. Main and they traveled throughout the country while he served 22 years in the Army. He served in two tours of Vietnam and earned a bronze star and a medal of merit. In 1974 they moved to Boothbay Harbor. He was employed at Bodwell’s in Brunswick and Advanced Auto Parts where he delivered parts for over 20 years.
He was a member of the American Legion in Augusta and the VFW in Boothbay Harbor.
He was an avid bowler, liked hunting and going to dances and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly Bryer on Oct. 28, 2000; and brother, Arnold Bryer.
He is survived by daughters, Deborah Gill of Bath, Jeanette Reed and husband Randy of Wiscasset, Laura Tarasoff of Washington state, and Michelle Bryer and partner Timber Brown of Boothbay; brothers, Dean Bryer and wife Betty of Bar Harbor, and Blanchard Bryer of New Hampshire; sister, Donna Teague of Union; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m., Fri., May 2 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. Burial will be private at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta with full military honors.
