David C. Starkey, 83, formerly of Nobleboro, passed away June 15 in Raleigh, N.C. Dave grew up in Arlington, Mass. and raised his family in Reading, Mass. He was a graduate of Colgate University and retired as vice-president of Human Resources for Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Massachusetts. He also served in the U.S. Navy.
Dave loved Maine and fishing. He also enjoyed poker with whoever was willing to lose some quarters. Wherever he lived, he enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow diners in the early daylight hours at the local doughnut shop.
He was predeceased by father and mother, David and Bernice Starkey; and daughter, Martha Starkey.
Survivors include children, Thomas Starkey and Tracy Cavanaugh of Stow, Mass., David J. Starkey of Manchester, N.H., Steven and Theresa Starkey of Raleigh, N.C. and Lauren and Stephen Brown of Wake Forest, N.C.; brother, Robert Starkey of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and many good friends at his residence at The Gardens at Wakefield Plantation.
