David Chase Carr, of Reading, Mass., passed away on June 19 at Winchester Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Winchester, Mass. on June 8, 1954, he was the son of Jean S. Carr (Chase) and the late Burton E. Carr of Reading. He was the beloved twin brother of Alan C. Carr of Reading, Mass., brother of Gary B. Carr of Florida, and Linda J. Bolt of Marlborough, Mass.
Dave was the devoted father of Jennifer J. Carr of Wakefield, Mass., David J. Carr of Wakefield, Mass., and Nicolas C. Carr and wife Jessica of Billerica, Mass. Dave’s greatest joy came from being with his family, especially his nine-month-old granddaughter, Abigail Juliette.
Dave was a member of Teamsters Local 25 and worked as a truck driver for 37 years until he retired from Stop and Shop in 2014. He always had a passion for watching and attending drag races with his twin brother Al traveling to different states, as they befriended many of the racing crew.
Most of all he loved spending summers with his family at their cottage on Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson, boating, fishing and waterskiing. Dave was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics.
A visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St., (corner of Woburn St.), Reading, Mass., from 4-8 p.m., Sun., June 24. A church service will be held at First Congregational Church of Reading, 25 Woburn St., Reading, Mass. at 11 a.m., Mon., June 25.
