David Reed passed away on June 7 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. He was born the son of George and Ida Dickinson Reed on May 19, 1922 in Boothbay Harbor.
Dave graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army and proudly represented his country in WWII. After returning from the war, he worked for many years at the Central Maine Power Company as a lineman, retiring in 1983. Following retirement he operated his own electrical business in the Boothbay Harbor area with his son David. He was a member for over 50 years of both the Lions Club and American Legion organizations.
He and his wife Joan enjoyed raising their children Julie, David, and Mary Beth and spending summers in Boothbay Harbor and the winters in Largo, Fla. Besides his strong love for his family, he also loved golf, a game he played as often as possible.
He was predeceased by first wife, Muriel Tibbetts Reed; second wife, Joan Barter Reed; and son, David.
He is survived by daughters, Julie Butler of Largo Fla., and Mary Beth Coniff and husband Greg of Oakland; granddaughters, Katherine Reed, Kristina Cassino, Rebecca Coniff, and Lauren Coniff; and great-granddaughter, Olivia Lewis.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tues., June 12 at Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay, with interment to follow at Ocean View Cemetery in Boothbay.
