Diane Jensen, of Damariscotta, passed away peacefully on Oct. 1 at the Sussman House with her family by her side.
Diane was born on Feb. 17, 1962 to Donald Jensen and Joyce Twardowski. She grew up in Belle Mead, N.J. and raised three children in Flemington, N.J. before moving to the Midcoast in 2001 with her ex-husband, Dino Joannides and their children, Selena, Derek and Gavin Joannides.
Diane was a devoted mother and fiercely loyal sister and friend. She was a free spirited and creative woman. Diane loved to spend time creating things, and she was a talented quilter and knitter.
Most importantly, Diane was a fighter. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer on Oct. 24, 2006 and has spent the last 12 years courageously battling her disease. She spent the last few days of her life surrounded by her family and close friends at the Sussman House before losing her battle.
Diane is survived by her children, Selena, Derek and Gavin; sisters, Dana Orenstein and Dale Cyburt; and mother, Joyce Twardowski.
A memorial service is planned from 1-4 p.m., Sat., Oct. 27 at The Chamberlain House, 1313 State Rt. 32, Round Pond.
