Dolores E. Drinkwater, 72, of Waldoboro, passed away, Dec. 31 at her residence surrounded by her loving family, after a period of failing health.
Dolores was born Nov. 6, 1937 in Lewiston, a daughter of the late Leslie and Mary Jenkins Higgins. Growing up in Waldoboro she attended local schools.
She was employed at many local boarding homes, tending and caring for residents.
Dolores was a member of the Word of Life Church in Waldoboro, formerly known as the Waldoboro Pentecostal Church. She liked to play cards and cribbage, sing and play the guitar, write poems, go to yard sales, and work outdoors in her yard.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Bertell D. Drinkwater, who died in 2000; sisters, Lillian Lindsey, and Marylyn Nash; brother, Harold Nash Jr., son-in-law, Wayne Burnham; and husbands, Robert Crouse and Manuel Augusto.
Survivors include daughters, Deborah Brown and companion Bob Heald of Portland, JoAnne Ladd and husband Charles of South Portland, Gail Augusto of Waldoboro, Laurie Boissenault and husband Dennis of Waldoboro, and Jan McLean of Augusta; sons, Leslie Crouse and wife Evelyn of Waldoboro, Mark Augusto and wife Carolyn of Vinalhaven, and Ricky Augusto and companion Xiomara Dubois of Colorado; sister, Grace Wellman of Waldoboro; many grand- and great-grandchildren; and her dog, Buddy.
Celebration of her life 11 a.m., Sat., Jan. 9 at the Waldoboro Word of Life Church, 41 Old Route 1, Waldoboro. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
