Domenic Nicolosi, 77, of Bremen, formerly of Andover, Mass., passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2014, at Holy Family Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Domenic was born in Trecastagni PR. CT, Sicily, Italy, and was the son of the late Alfio and Barbara (Ciancio) Nicolosi.
He found his passion as a young adult in design and tailoring. He went on to study design in Torino, Italy. At the age of 21 he entered “The Golden Scissors,” a major competition where he placed first in cutting technique, he received a silver cup. He demonstrated tenacity, talent, and exceptional skill.
Domenic came to this country in 1956, sponsored by Bond Clothing Co. in New York City, as a designer and custom tailor. He went on to open his own tailor shops in Lawrence, Andover, Methuen, and Chelmsford, Mass.
Along with his passion for tailoring, Domenic also enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved holiday gatherings, where he was always surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and friends alike. Domenic later retired to Maine, where he enjoyed the serenity and tranquility of nature.
Domenic was predeceased by nephew, Sgt. Pierre A. Raymond, who was killed in action in Ramadi, Iraq, in 2005.
Domenic is survived by his loving wife, Louise (Jenkins) Nicolosi of Bremen; loving daughters, Deborah Passamonte and husband William of Lawrence, Mass., and Italia Stavrou and husband Vasilos of Dracut, Mass.; sister, Santina Nicolosi-Raymond of Lawrence, Mass.; cherished grandchildren, Michael Calthrope, Joseph Passamonte, Toula Stavrou, and Luca Domenic Stavrou; and several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was held on Jan. 10 at St. Patrick’s Church, Lawrence, Mass. Interment was private.
