Donald “Don” Charles Ross, 87, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Dec. 17, 2025 at the Sussman House in Rockport.
Don was born on Jan. 24, 1938 in Waldoboro to Montell C. and Mildred A. (Jones) Ross. He grew up in Waldoboro, attended local schools, and graduated from Waldoboro High School in 1956.
He met the love of his life, Patricia Mitchell, on a blind date, and just six weeks later they were married, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted 67 years. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family.
Don began working during his high school years with Harold Ralph and later worked for Penobscot Poultry Farm. His primary career was with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where he spent 27 years and earned the position of inspection supervisor. He was deeply proud of his work there and, after retiring, continued to share his expertise by returning as an independent contractor. In addition, Don worked as both a truck driver and a trolley driver.
In his free time, Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, and listening to country music. He was actively involved in his community, serving as a Grange master and as a devoted member of the Thomaston Baptist Church, where he served three terms as a deacon, a role he held with great dedication.
Don was predeceased by his parents; and by his brothers, George, Fred, Montell Jr., and Douglas; and his sister, Eunice Flagg.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Mitchell Ross, of Warren; his son, Scott Jay Ross and his husband, Michael Wright, of New London, Conn.; his daughters, Tonya Perry and her husband, Scott, of Benson, Ariz., and Trisha Foster and her husband, Jim, of Wells; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the Thomaston Baptist Church, a place he loved deeply. Burial will take place in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Union.

Don will be remembered for his strong work ethic, steadfast faith, love of family, and the quiet kindness with which he lived his life.
