Donald Dodd Chisholm, 56, of Boothbay Harbor, formerly of Rockland, died unexpectedly Aug. 31 at St. Andrews Hospital.
Born in Rockland, Oct. 22, 1952, he was the son of Donald J. and Margaret Dodd Chisholm. Educated in local schools, he was a 1970 graduate of Rockland District High School. An outstanding athlete, he participated in three sports while at RDHS. These included cross country, basketball and baseball. In 1974, he graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a Bachelors of Science in Economics.
For several years he was employed as a seafood broker for Inland Lobster, a division of Island Fresh Seafood Corporation.
Donald cared deeply for his family and friends and completed many acts of kindness that he told no one about. He was an avid sports fan, and followed Rockland District High School sports throughout the years. He also enjoyed photography and took great pleasure in being near the ocean.
Donald is survived by his mother and father of Owls Head; brother, Patrick J. Chisholm of Portland; sisters, Joyce Southard and husband David of North Berwick, Constance Cantara and husband Richard of Sanford, Margaret Watkinson and husband Ronald of Owls Head, Colleen Tolman and husband Brian of Warren, and Kerry Barnes and husband Philip of Owls Head; uncles, Raymond Chisholm of Brunswick, and Thomas Dodd of Illinois; aunt, Isabella Hampton of New Hampshire; nieces and nephews, Sarah Southard, Kent Southard, Shannon Cantara, James Cantara and companion Susan Rzepka, Jennifer Cantara Lowy and husband Edward, Ross Watkinson and companion Erin Chase, Lee Watkinson and wife Darcie, Tyler Watkinson, Erica Tolman, Kelsey Barnes, and Lindsay Barnes; four great-nieces; and many extended family members.
Memorial mass of Christian burial 1 p.m., Tues., Sept. 8 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland, followed by a reception in the church’s Grispi Center. The Rev. Mark Reinhardt will officiate.
