Donald Lewis Crochere, 42, of Whitefield, died Oct. 21 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.
He was born in Augusta March 6, 1968, the son of Marie Crochere Groleau and was later adopted by Norman Sr. and Mary Crochere. Donny grew up in the Augusta area and attended St. Mary’s School. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved fishing and camping and never missed a chance to celebrate life. He enjoyed going to Hollywood Slots in Bangor, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones.
Donny was a lobster boat sternman for several years on Vinalhaven and also worked as a delivery driver for Velocity, out of Westbrook
Donald was predeceased by his father, Norman Crochere Sr.; mother, Mary Crochere; nephew, Dominic Andrews; cousins, Lisa Williams and Eunice “Gram” Noyes; and step-father, Albert Groleau.
He is survived by his fiancée, Violet Knox of Jefferson; her children, Shannon Poulin and companion Cory and their children, Connor and Logan who called him “Bampy”; brothers, Louie Crochere and wife Barbara of Casper, Wyo. and Norman Crochere and wife Paula of Pownal; sisters, Marie Groleau and husband Albert, April Groleau of Augusta, Valida Coline Tillson and husband Walter of Windsor, Michelle Brann and husband Don of West Gardiner, and Teresa Smith and husband Bill of Vassalboro; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends may visit 6-8 p.m., Wed., Oct. 27 at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta. Graveside service 11 a.m., Fri., Oct. 29 at Noyes Cemetery in Jefferson.
