Donald “Peanut” Gene Anderson, 71, of Augusta, passed away Nov. 1 at the Togus Alzheimer Center, Augusta after a lengthy stay with dementia.
Donald was born May 7, 1939 in Washington, son of Marion Anderson and Tauno “Donnie” Anderson.
In the mid 60s Donald was drafted into the Army for a couple years, serving some time in Germany. He had fondly remembered his time there.
In his early life he went to work in Middletown, Conn. working at Pratt and Whitney and in area machine shops. Later in life he worked at N.C. Hunt Lumber Company in Jefferson until his retirement in 2003.
Donald drove his own stock car at area tracks and followed the local races. He owned his own Harley Davidson, the love of his life, which he took pride.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Darlene Anderson of Jefferson; sister, Sharon Thebeau of Somerville; mother, Marion Anderson and companion Clyde Crummett of Jefferson; and father, Tauno “Donnie” Anderson of Washington.
He is survived by his sister, Marlene Crosby and companion Charlie Oliver Sr. of Spruce Head; brother, Gerald Anderson and wife Shirley of Bremen; brother-in-law, Gordon Thebeau of Somerville; aunt, Dena; and special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Peanut’s interment 1 p.m., Sun., Dec. 5 at the Sand Hill Cemetery in Somerville.
