Donna A. Nash, 87, passed away on May 8, 2024 at the Sussman House in Rockport. Donna was born Dec. 30, 1936 in Worcester, Mass., to Donald Simmons and Gertrude Beane Simmons. Donna grew up in Muscongus and loved to swim in the ocean off what she called the “big rock.” She graduated from Waldoboro High School in the class of 1955.
Donna married Ronald Nash on Feb. 22, 1958. They lived in Massachusetts for a brief time while her husband served in the Coast Guard before moving back to Maine where they raised their two daughters. Family meant everything to Donna. She was married to her beloved husband, Ron, for 59 years.
Donna began working as a teacher’s aide at Friendship Street School in Waldoboro and then as a secretary for over 20 years at Miller School. Donna was a warm, kind, welcoming person who always looked out for others. Donna always gave unconditional love to her family and friends.
She loved to read, work in her flower gardens, crossword puzzles, and going to lawn sales. She loved to bake and cook for her family and spending time together. She was a 4-H leader and an active member of the Waldoboro United Methodist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Nash; brothers, Richard Belcher and Wayne Simmons; nephews, Stuart Nash and Staff Sgt. Andrew Bossert.
Donna is survived by her daughters, Karen Sawyer and her husband, Jay, of Warren, Pamela Trahan and her husband, David, of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Sarah Sawyer and Jacob Sawyer, of Warren; great-grandchild, Emmet Sawyer, of Warren; brothers, Bruce Simmons and his wife, Sylvia, of Byron, George Simmons and his wife, Judy, of Ashburnham, Mass.; sisters, Diane Bossert and her husband, Steve, of Fountain City, Wis., Anna Mae Ehmann and her husband, Evan, of Winchendon, Mass., Mary Dufour and her husband, Jim, of Ashburnham, Mass.; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at her home in Waldoboro to be announced.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
