Donna Layton, 69, of Wiscasset, passed away on Feb. 27 with her husband by her side. She was born in Bath on July 18, 1942, the daughter of Richard and Gladys (Watson) Morse. She grew up in Bath and graduated from Morse High School, class of 1960.
On June 25, 1960 she married her soul mate John Layton and the couple made their home in Bath to raise their family.
Donna was very family oriented, being a mom was very important to her. However, she kept herself busy when the kids were grown up by working as a cashier for L.L. Bean, retiring in 1999.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She always looked forward to family gatherings with her grandchildren, who were the apple of her eyes. Christmas was her favorite time of year, the whole family would be by her side. She also enjoyed quilting, playing Yahtzee, yard sales and camping. Day trips were another favorite past time of hers.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years; daughters, Holly Keith of Gardiner, Kim Hook of Brunswick, Lisa Dobson of Brunswick, and Tammy Baker and husband Matt of Gardiner; sister, Sandra Day of Lewiston; brothers, Robert Morse and wife Donna of Phippsburg, and Richard Morse of Arrowsic, eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
