Donna May Slicer, 73, of Jefferson and formerly of Middlebury, Vt., passed away July 13 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta after a period of failing health.
Donna was born March 7, 1939 in Canton, the daughter of Malcolm Louville and Doris A. Clark Tilton, and was a graduate of Cony High School and the University of Maine, Orono with a degree in education. She was awarded a Master of Education Degree from The University of Vermont on May 20, 1989.
She was employed as a teacher of special education and adult education in the Middlebury, Vt. school system for 17 years. While residing there, she was a member of the local square dancing club, which she enjoyed very much.
Upon her retirement, she and her husband Ronald Slicer traveled across the country in their motor home, staying overnight in all but six states.
Donna was an active member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Rockland, loved to travel, square dance, and was known for the beautiful quilts that she made. Active in her community, she was a member of the Jefferson Historical Society, was active in its annual book sale held in August, and served on the library board of directors.
Survivors include husband, Ronald F. Slicer of Jefferson; sons, Robert Everett Jr. and wife Vicki of Westminster, Mass., and Stephen Slicer and companion Maribeth Gero of Bristol, Vt.; daughters, Susan Corcoran and fiancé Tony Gagne of Portland, and Kimberly Slicer and companion Dan Lilly of Leicester, Vt.; grandchildren, Leslie, Kelli and Benjamin Everett, Jamie and Michael Corcoran and wife Ariana, and Justin and Aly Wanke of Leicester, Vt.; great-grandchildren, Aubriella and Maisie; sister, Jeanne Bryant of Jefferson, Kenny and Sue Foster, Ethan and Andrew Foster, Eric and Brenda Scherer, Kyle and Devon Scherer, and Vicki and Chloe Bryant; and brother-in-law, Roger Bryant.
Celebration of Donna’s life 4 p.m., Sun., July 22 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
