Doris “Dolly” Irene Small passed away Jan. 13 at the Hawthorne House in Freeport. She was born on July 31, 1926 in Weymouth, Mass. to Harry and Hetty (Feist) Parr.
She attended Hampton Academy in Hampton, N.H., graduating in 1944.
She was employed at various different places over the years with her main occupation as wife and mother.
Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, painting and many other crafts. She always said she dabbled in everything and excelled in none.
Dolly was a very loved and fun loving person. She was her happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends. She loved reminiscing about her large family and family and friend gatherings. She was famous for taking in nieces, nephews and friends for summer vacations or if they needed a place to stay.
Dolly was predeceased by her husband Frederick in 1995; beloved grandson, Brandon, on Dec. 21, 2016; brothers, Harry, Richard and Robert; and sister, Veronica.
She is survived by sister, Evelyn Lorraine Busch of Exeter, N.H.; son, Fred and wife Sylvia Small of Damariscotta; daughter, Betsy and husband Ben of Nobleboro; grandchildren, Chris, Michelle, Laura, Krystal and Nathaniel; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service and celebration of her life at 1 p.m., Sun., Jan. 22 at the Faith Baptist Church in Damariscotta Mills, with the Rev. David O’Donnell officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m., Fri., May 12 at the Sea View Cemetery in Rockland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
