Doris E. Jacobson, 87, of Hinesburg, Vt., formerly of Bremen and Shrewsbury, Mass., died on Aug. 5 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.
She was born Aug. 10, 1918 in Worcester, Mass., the eldest daughter of George and Martha (Green) Carlson. She was the wife of Fred W. Jacobson, who predeceased her on Jan. 29, 1993.
Doris attended schools in Massachusetts and at the age of 84, was a proud graduate of the University of Maine in Augusta. Doris recently moved to Hinesburg from Maine to be closer to family. She was a member of the Shelburne/Charlotte Newcomers and the Ladies of the Lake chapter of the Red Hat Society. Doris also enjoyed many afternoons playing bridge with friends.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline and husband Bart; son, Paul and wife Sue; two granddaughters, Anneke and husband Chris, and Elisabeth and husband Jason; and “the light of her life”, her great-grandson, Zachary. She is also survived by two sisters, a brother, and several nieces and nephews.
Services of remembrance 4:30 p.m., Fri., Aug. 11 at the Charlotte Congregational Church, Charlotte, Vt. and 1 p.m., Sat., Aug. 12 at the First Congregational Church, Shrewsbury, Mass.
