Doris E. Stauble, 89, of Wiscasset, passed away on June 13 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
She was born in Fort Lee, N.J. on July 18, 1917, a daughter of Otto and Mae (Brendel) Stoll. She attended schools in Dumont, N.J. and graduated from Dumont High School.
On the island of Barbados, she married John H. Stauble in 1936 and resided in Trinidad in the West Indies for seven years. They then returned to Dumont, N.J. and started her antique business.
They moved to Damariscotta Mills in 1971 and restored their home. In 1973 they moved to Wiscasset where she owned and operated II At Wiscasset Antiques for 32 years.
She was a member of the Maine Antique Dealers Association.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. Doris was known for her original arrangements in antique containers using Victorian fruits and flowers.
She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Stauble in 1979.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia M. Stauble of Wiscasset; granddaughter, Donna Lorrain and husband David of Boothbay; and great-granddaughters, MacKenzie and Danielle.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset.
