Doris Holmes, 84, of Cushing, died July 9 at the Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland.
She was born Dec. 14, 1923 in Richmond, W.V.
Mrs. Holmes made her life as a homemaker raising her daughters and loving her grandchildren. She enjoyed her home where she grew flowers, watched birds, and cared for dogs and cats.
Mrs. Holmes is preceded in death by her husband, Forrest M. Holmes.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by her two daughters, Betty Gagne and husband Roger of Cushing, and Sharon Holmes of Cushing; two grandchildren, Jennifer S. Lucarino of Chapaqua, N.Y., and Michael R. Burns of Cushing; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Roger Lucarino, Forrest M. Burns and Cameron J. Burns; brother-in-law, Cyrus Holmes; and two sisters-in-law, Carlene Holmes and Lorena Fontaine.
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Strong Funeral Home, Damariscotta.
