
Doris Marie Joannes, 79, of Round Pond, passed away at her home on the morning of Aug. 11, with her loving husband by her side. Born in Newport, R.I. on June 4, 1937, she was the daughter of Raymond and Michelina Fabas.
Doris grew up in Newport, attended local schools there and graduated from Rogers High School in Newport. She worked as a meat wrapper at local grocery stores in Rhode Island for many years before moving to Maine.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and spending time with her husband and family.
She is survived by husband, Henry Joannes of Round Pond; daughter, Donna M. Clark and husband Paul; grandchildren, Breanna, Kendall, Shane, Ethan, Finn, Lisa and husband Rick, Jack, Leeann and husband Jacob, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Isabella, Gabriel, Michaela, Sebastian, Hailey, Caleb and Dominic; cousins, Jean Bento and husband Jay, and Winifred Luongo; as well as several close friends who loved her dearly.
A viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m., Fri., Aug. 19 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., also on Friday, Aug. 19, at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle. She will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Round Pond.
