Dorothy B. Brownell, 91, of Union, passed away peacefully Nov. 13 at Windward Gardens in Camden, just six weeks after losing her husband of 65 years, Frederick Brownell. She was born in Camden on Sept. 17, 1921, the daughter of the late Elroy V. and Marjorie Mank Beverage. She grew up in Camden attended local schools was a graduate of Camden High School.
She was a homemaker, working seasonally packing apples and canning squash. She was always fond of the time she could spend in her garden.
She always was canning her homegrown vegetables, even enlisting the help of Frederick on more than a few occasions. She enjoyed puzzles and word searches, a hobby she passed along to her grandchildren. She was a member of the Hope Grange, Seven Tree Grange, and the Peoples United Methodist Church in Union, she was also a member of the ATOMS and MOALS antique car clubs.
She battled with MS for more than 40 years but never once would complain. She was always putting others before herself, she knew she had her troubles but she always knew that there were a lot of people that were worse off than she was. It was this selflessness that made her who she was. She was very family-oriented and loved nothing more than to be able to spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Frederick W. Brownell; and brother, Elroy Beverage Jr.
