Dorothy (Boudreau) Gallant, 82, of Dover, N.H., formerly of Round Pond, died peacefully on Feb. 28 after a brief stay at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Freemont, N.H. surrounded by loving family and dear friends.
Born on Jan. 5, 1930 in Belmont, Mass., she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Bourque) Boudreau Hines. She attended Morse High School and in 1951 married Edward Gallant. The couple moved to Bath and eventually relocated to Derry, N.H. While her children were young she was a happy homemaker and later supported her family working in various shoe manufacturing plants.
In 1980 she moved with her husband to New Port Richey, Fla. At the age of 61 she got her driver’s license and became quite the adventurous driver, traveling the east coast visiting family and friends. No matter where she roamed, she always stayed connected to her friends in Round Pond.
Returning to New Hampshire in 2003, settling with her daughter Paula, she finally got her “own first place” in 2005 and fostered many wonderful friendships and had many a happy time. She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and NE Patriots, enjoyed music and dancing, loved playing games, bingo her favorite. Hobbies included knitting and quilting; her most recent quilting project was for her great-grandson, Finnian Wynter Hickey, of Jefferson.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Gerald Boudreau; and infant daughter, Donna Marie.
Dorothy is survived by her brother, Nery Boudreau and wife Ann of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Jacqueline (Boudreau Gallant) Hickey of Newcastle, and Paula (Gallant) Kiley of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; son, Gerald Gallant and wife Mary of New Port Richey, Fla.; daughter, Kathleen (Gallant) Crawford of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Family, friends and caregivers are invited to join the family as we honor and remember Dorothy with shared memories, music and refreshments, 2-7 p.m., Mon., March 5 at the Pillsbury House, 12 West Broadway, Derry, N.H.
