Dorothy Brown Penniman, 92, of New Harbor, wife of the late Edwin Penniman, passed away on the afternoon of Dec. 27 at Miles Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of Ralph A. and Lena (Bird) Brown, she was born in Bristol, Sept. 26, 1915. Dorothy graduated from Lincoln Academy, Newcastle, class of 1933.
For many years, she served as a nurse’s aid in New Harbor, as well as caring for her husband and children. She was also active in several organizations, including the Neighborly Club in Pemaquid, was a charter member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and a member of the Bristol Extension.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin on April 6, 2004, and siblings, Eleanor Sherman, Virginia Wood, Arlene Ronning and Ralph Willard Brown.
Dorothy leaves her children, John Penniman and wife Linda of Bath, Donna Beauchamp of Manchester, N.H., and Rita Grant and husband Warren of Labelle, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to be with the family 9-11 a.m., Mon., Dec. 31 at Strong Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta where a service to honor Dorothy will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Warren Grant (her son-in-law) officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the New Harbor Cemetery, following the service.
