Dorothy E. Ellingwood, 94, of Bristol Mills, passed away early on the morning of Dec. 29 at Cove’s Edge Skilled Unit, Damariscotta.
Born in Damariscotta, she moved to Beverly, Mass. as a young girl, graduating from Beverly High School.
For several years, following high school, Dot remained in Beverly, Mass., later coming back to Maine where she married Arthur “Gary” Ellingwood. She and Gary lived at their home in Bristol Mills throughout their marriage. Gary predeceased Dot on Dec. 25, 1989.
She was a longtime member of the Bristol Mills Congregational Church where she sang in the choir and was active with the church Ladies Aid for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She leaves her daughter, Jean A. Thistle and husband Henry of Bristol; grandchildren, Robert, Terri, and Gary; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Service to honor Dot 2 p.m., Sat., Jan. 5 at the Bristol Mills Congregational Church with Rev. David Ray officiating.
She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Bristol Mills Cemetery in the spring.
