Dorothy Hart Berquist, 91, of Alna, died Sept. 1.
She was born in Suffern, N.Y. on Nov. 15, 1919, a daughter of James H. and Mary (Wright) Hart.
She married Raymond Berquist and they resided in Cranford, N.J. and later in Naples, Fla. After the death of her husband, she moved to Newcastle until 2009. She then moved to Alna to live with her friends, Charles and Meredith MacDearmid.
She was a gourmet cook and cooked with Julia Childs. She loved Maine, animals, nature and her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Berquist; and beloved son, Raymond “Speedy” Berquist.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Phillipon and husband Jean of St. Denis-LaChevasse, France; grandchildren, James Phillipon and Christine Petit; great-grandchildren, William, Thomas and Lucas Petit; and nephew, Chris Nielson and wife Dianne of Ridgewood, N.J.
Services for Dorothy will be private.
