Dorothy Koreen Fraser, 103, of Gardiner, died peacefully on Dec. 27, 2012, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Glenridge in Augusta. She was born in Gardiner on Oct. 31, 1909, the daughter of Fred and Alice (Pottle) Hutchings.
Mrs. Fraser worked for Commonwealth Shoe Co. in the stitching room for 20 years. Retiring at the age of 62, she enjoyed being with her grandchildren, traveling, camping and fishing with her husband of 58 years, who died in 1997 while they residing in Zephyrhills, Fla. Returning to Maine, Mrs. Fraser lived in Gardiner and Farmingdale before moving to Augusta. Mrs. Fraser was a life member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Fraser was predeceased by her husband, Arthur J. Fraser; brothers, Roland, William “Bill” and George Hutchings; sister, Mable Thompson; stepson, Linwood Fraser; and foster daughter, Suzanne Densmore McKay.
She is survived by a sister, Goldie Vezina of Richmond and Florida; foster son, Bruce Densmore of South Gardiner; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were May 22 at Christ Church Episcopal in Gardiner. Burial followed in Litchfield Plains Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
