Dorothy M. Doucette, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 6. Dorothy was born on Sept. 8, 1922 in Medford, Mass. to Stanley and Dorothy (Spencer) Bailey. She attended local schools and went on to graduate from the Massachusetts School of Art with a bachelor’s degree in art.
After graduating, Dorothy owned her own antique shop for several years before marrying Mr. Hartford Doucette. Together they had one son David. Dorothy then went on to work with her father in sales and in running the family store. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed gardening, knitting and sewing.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Hartford in 2001; and son, David in the 1980s.
She is survived by sisters, Grace Tellefsen of Southport, and Barbara Glines of Salem, N.H.; five nieces; five nephews; and several cousins and friends.
A reception was held in Dorothy’s honor on April 17 at St. Andrew’s Village. A family graveside service will be held on Sat., April 25 at Rural Cemetery in Walpole, Mass.
