Dorothy M. Stanley, 89, passed away March 12 at the Homestead at Owls Head in Owls Head.
She was born June 16, 1920 in New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of the late Arthur and Lilly Wilcox McDonough. She grew up in New Brunswick and was a graduate of high school there. She was employed at the St. John Dry Dock Company, LTD.
On Jan. 26, 1945, she married Alfred D. Stanley. For 50 years they made their home on Monhegan Island and for the last 14 years in Rockland, where she was a homemaker.
Dorothy enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, working around the house and will be remembered for her great cooking.
She was predeceased by a brother, Ira McDonough.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Alfred D. Stanley, of Rockland; and cousins, Barbara Clayton of New Brunswick, Canada, and Barbara Ann Therieault.
At Dorothy’s request, there will be no services.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home, Waldoboro.
