Douglas D. Moss Jr., 75, of New Harbor, passed away Aug. 13 at his residence.
He was born in West Willington, Conn. to Douglas and Blanche (Korner) Moss Sr. He attended Windham High School in Willimantic where he was co-captain of the football team. Doug loved sailing and was passionate about drama. He taught high school English and drama. He was interested in energy conservation and had a successful business, Eastern Energy Solutions, in Norwich, Conn. He was an active member of both St. Andrew’s Church and New Harbor Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Bernadette (McGowan) Moss; sister, Linda Leigh Powell; nephews and nieces, Edwin and Bonnie, Margaret, Regina and husband Rob, and Harold, who was like a son to Doug, and wife Jacqueline; brothers-in-law, Jay and Patrick; and sisters-in-law Mary, Theresa and husband Gary, and Geraldine and husband Robert. He will also be missed by the family cat, Sunshine.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., Aug. 25 at St. Andrew’s Church, 11 Glidden St., Newcastle.
