Edith Grace Allen, 83, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Aug. 16 at Miles Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Edith was born on June 26, 1928 on the island of Vinalhaven, the daughter of the late Eubertus and Pearl Morash Andrews. At the age of 12 she and her family moved from Vinalhaven to Cambridge, Mass. where she attended local schools.
She married her husband Lawrence Allen and the two made their home in Cambridge. She worked as a computer operator at Myerson Tooth for many years. After her husband’s passing in 2007 she moved to Jefferson Green in Jefferson so that she could be closer to family. She had lived a full life and loved nothing more than spending time visiting her sons and her grandchildren. She enjoyed being at home and doing things around the house whether it was watching a television program or talking to friends on the telephone, she enjoyed the comforts of her home.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years Lawrence Allen.
Survivors include her sons Larry Allen and wife Aileen of Waldoboro and Mark Allen of Pittsfield; and grandchildren, Stuart, Steven, and Alisha.
Time of visitation 1 p.m., Tues., Aug. 23 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro with a celebration of life 2 p.m. with Rev. Robin Honaker officiating. Burial 1 p.m., Wed., Aug. 24 at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon.
