Edna L. Perkins, 83, of Waldoboro, died on July 7 at Miles Memorial Hospital, Damariscotta, after a long struggle with diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.
Edna was born at Port Medway, Nova Scotia, on Dec. 7, 1922. She moved to Gloucester, Mass. in 1927, and became a U.S. citizen at age eight. She attended Gloucester schools, graduating from Gloucester High.

She was a member of Rebeccas Lodge, the Warren Baptist Church, the 7th Day Adventist Church of Camden, and the Mormon Church of the Latter Day Saints of Damariscotta.
Edna enjoyed singing in the Baptist Church Choir. She loved flowers, animals, auto rides, and boating in the Rockland Harbor area.
She was predeceased by her father, Gilbert Verge, a former Gloucester fisherman and research vessel watchman; her mother, Hazel; and sister, Shirley, formerly of Northampton, Mass.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; brother, Warren and wife Jeanne Verge of Gloucester; and sister, Marie Buckman of Plymouth, Mass.
Edna will be buried in the family plot at Beechbrook Cemetery, West Gloucester, Mass.
