Edward Wesley Matson, 60, of Union, died suddenly at his residence on May 7. He was born Nov. 28, 1949 in Damariscotta, the son of William Edward Matson and Margaret Mank Matson. He attended Waldoboro High School and graduated in the class of 1967. He attended Unity College and Ricker College.
In the 1970s Ed worked at Sulo’s Texaco in Waldoboro and then took it over and ran it as Waldoboro Texaco. He later began his own construction company, Ed Matson Excavation, which he operated for many years. He was a member of King Solomon’s Lodge No. 61 A.F. & A.M. in Waldoboro. He enjoyed people and the many friendships he had made over his life.
He was predeceased by his father, William Edward Matson.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret Mank Matson of Union; sons, Edward “Eddie” Matson Jr. and wife Christina of Waldoboro, Todd W. Matson and wife Christy of Union and William Ronald Matson of Bath; daughter, Kristen Faye Matson and companion Jessie Bailey of Union; grandchildren, Jacob and Julia Matson of Waldoboro and Noah and Haylie Matson of Union; several cousins, and a niece and nephews.
Celebration of Edward’s life 11 a.m., Thurs., May 13 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Pastor Jerry Wright will officiate.
