Eleanor A. Noyes, 94, of New Harbor, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 29 at the Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta. Born in Lynn, Mass. on March 9, 1919, she was the daughter of James and Ellen (Pye) Brooks.
Eleanor grew up in Massachusetts and was a graduate of Salem High School, and later graduated from Hickox Secretarial School in Boston. In 1939, she married the late William R. Noyes, and the two would have 67 wonderful years together.
She worked alongside her husband for many years at their family business, Noyes Hardware Store, in Marblehead, Mass. The couple loved to travel, and lived in Massachusetts and Florida before moving to Maine in 2006.
Eleanor loved swimming, and was an avid golfer her whole life. Upon moving to Maine, she became a member of the Willing Workers Group in New Harbor.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Noyes in 2006; and son, Andrew L. Noyes in 2012.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Patricia Noyes of New Harbor; grandsons, Damon Noyes of California, and Jared Noyes of New Harbor; step-granddaughters, Jeannine Parady of New Harbor, and Jeanette Minyaoui and husband Ali of Everett, Mass.; six great-grandsons; and two step-great-granddaughters.
A private service will take place for the family.
