Eleanor Frazier Scott, 87, of Hallowell and long time resident of South Portland and Waldoboro, died peacefully at her home on June 14 at her home.
She was born Jan. 2, 1923 to the late Herbert and Bertha Frazier of Newcastle. She was married to Berton H. Scott of Waldoboro for 29 years and together they operated the Mack-Clark Bottling Company before his death in 1976. Eleanor also spent many years working as a hairdresser in her own shop in Waldoboro. After that she was a bookkeeper for RC Moore Transportation for many years until retiring.
She was an accomplished seamstress and made all of her own gowns for events with the Order of the Eastern Star, a fraternal organization that was a special focus in her life for many years. She often shared stories of many happy gatherings with her “Grand Family.”
Eleanor always enjoyed sports and became a huge basketball fan in recent years. She never missed watching a Celtics game and she was also an avid Red Sox fan. She loved to read and had a group of friends with whom she shared books with on a regular basis. She enjoyed going to places at the Lyric Music Theater in South Portland and she loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Survivors include nieces Judy Gifford of Waldoboro, Susan Gravel of Hampden, Conn., Martha Ringer of Ojai, Cal. and Linda Hodgdon of Morganton, N.C.; nephews, Scott Ringer of Whitefish, Mont. and James Scott of Poland; several grandnieces and grandnephews; as well as several great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Graveside service 11 a.m., Thurs., June 17 at the Rural Cemetery on Route 220 in Waldoboro.
