Elinor G. Edlund, of Walpole, passed away at her home on Feb. 24 on her 97th birthday. Elinor was the fourth child of Trenor Franklin Goodell and Marion Sears Goodell.
Elinor attended Boston University, majoring in music. She taught in Westport, Mass. and later was appointed as a teacher in the Boston School System where she taught from 1962 until 1970. Upon retirement, she and her husband traveled around the United States and settled for the winters in Ruskin, Fla. They returned to Maine for the summers.
Elinor enjoyed leading the exercise group in Ruskin during the winters. She played the violin, piano and did beautiful handwork until she was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. Even as her vision declined, she remained active.
Elinor was predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Edlund.
Elinor is survived by her daughter, Elin King and spouse Terri of California; grandchildren, Karin Oliver and husband John, Karl King and wife Terri, Kevin King and wife Carol, Kathi Hayes and husband Mike, Carmen King and close friend Conrado, and Timothy King; great-grandchildren, Luke, Addison and Aria Oliver, Taylor and Chase King, Makye and Hunter Hayes and Ryan, Austin and Matt Speakman; several nieces and nephews; and siblings, Winifred Howland, Ruth Pilling, Eunice Sherman and Trenor Goodell Sr.
At her request, all services will be private.
