Elizabeth Hopkins, of Walpole, passed away peacefully on Nov. 1 at LincolnHealth – Miles Campus. Elizabeth was born on Jan. 12, 1928 in Glasgow, Scotland.
She was the only daughter of Agnes and William Burnett. She was married to Captain Robert Simpson Hopkins who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2009.
Elizabeth and Roy emigrated to the U.S. in 1961 and resided in Chatham, N.J. for many years, where they raised their five children.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Andrew’s Church in Newcastle. She was happiest in her garden, feeding the birds and tending her vegetables which she grew and enjoyed every year. Her little Jack Russell, Renee, was her faithful and constant companion, even visiting her in hospital!
She is survived by daughters, Linda and husband Frans, Leslie and husband Brent, Allison and husband Vincent, and Holly; son, Robert; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
