Elliott “Pucky” C. Abbott, 86, of Wiscasset, died Feb. 7 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
He was educated at Wiscasset Schools. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 where he served for the Company B 711th Tank Battalion until 1946 earning the rank of Sergeant. On Dec. 9, 1952 he married Barbara E. Merry. He was employed for Central Maine Power for 33 years retiring in December of 1984 as an assistant boiler operator.
He was a life member of the Bradford-Sortwell-Wright American Legion, Post #54 in Wiscasset where he was also a member of the Past Commanders Club. He was a volunteer of the Wiscasset Fire Department for 53 years, achieving the rank of Assistant Chief retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, camping trips with his good friend Fred West and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara E. Abbott on Aug. 31, 2002; sister, Elizabeth “Bet” Lewis and husband Leavitt; brother, George Abbott; and two brothers-in-law, J. Gordon Merry and James Merry and wife Margie.
He is survived by one son, Roland Abbott and girlfriend Kate Merryman of Wiscasset; two daughters, Lynn Lincoln and husband Robert of Wiscasset, and Lorie Johnson of Randolph; brother, John Abbott of Damariscotta; three sisters-in-law, Jane LaBourdais and husband Blinn, Marion Abbott and Ann Merry, all of Wiscasset; 10 grandchildren, Amy, Kristy, Shari, Michele, Randy Jr., Heather, Jamie, Mandy, Doug and Shelby; 14 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jasmyne, Taylor, Thomas, Mason, Collin, Michelle, Chelsea, Tiffiny, Andrew, Damon, Brooke, Skyla and Riley; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Visiting hours 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Fri., Feb. 13 at Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal St., Wiscasset. Graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wiscasset in the spring.
