Elsie Amanda Poland, 66, of Round Pond, passed away Feb. 19 in Portland, after battling an illness.
She was born March 17, 1942, in Damariscotta, the only daughter of Harold E. and Mabel Yates Poland. She attended schools in Round Pond and Bristol, graduating from Bristol High School. After high school she worked for many years at Master’s Machine Shop in Round Pond, then for more than 20 years at Sheepscot Machine Works in Boothbay and Newcastle, where she retired in 2008.
Elsie never married and was predeceased by her parents, as well as two brothers, Harold E. Poland, Jr. and Douglas M. Poland.
Elsie leaves behind one brother, Robert Y. Poland and companion Nellie Leeman; ten nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and seven cousins.
Time to visit 5-7 p.m., Fri., Feb. 27 at Strong Funeral Home in Damariscotta, where all are welcome to come and share their memories of Elsie.
Later, in the spring when the sun has warmed the earth, family and friends will gather to lay her to rest beside her mother in Maple Grove Cemetery in Round Pond.
