Elsie Bryant Yates Rogers, of Round Pond, 108, passed away on the morning of June 10 at Cove’s Edge Nursing Home.
She was born in Round Pond, Feb. 1, 1899, to Edmund and Amanda (Morton) Yates.
She married Thomas Layton Rogers in 1920 and had Thomas William Rogers, Ann E. Baty (now both of Round Pond) and a son, Donald Yates Rogers, who predeceased her.
Elsie was the last living member of her many siblings, of the Yates family. They were Ashley, Alton, Harold, Hilda, Mabel, Lilia and Edmund, Jr.
She was a homemaker all her life and especially loved the babies that came along. Besides her children, she had 10 grandchildren, Jean Daniels and husband Charles of Avon, Ohio, Lois Cahill and husband Robert of Clinton, N.Y., Donna Umbrel and husband William of Accident, Md., Jackie Potvin and husband Philip of Salem, Mass., Marianne Smith of Meridian, Ida., Barbara Baty (deceased), Elizabeth Jones and husband Steven of Salem, Mass., Rebecca Gilbert and husband David of Salem, Mass., Daniel Baty and wife Kristen of Round Pond, and Christopher Baty of Acushnet, Mass. She also had 33 great grandchildren and 25 great great-grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest with a graveside service 11 a.m., Fri., June 15 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Round Pond.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Muscongus Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 262, Round Pond, ME 04564.
