Elsie Lee Hilton, 81, passed away on Oct. 28, 2019, at the Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills.
Elsie was born on June 16, 1938 in Waldoboro to Phillip A. Lee Sr. and Esther L. (Calderwood) Lee. She attended local grade schools and graduated from Waldoboro High School in 1956.
Elsie married Damon Hilton and was married for 40 years until his passing in 1998.
She was a bookkeeper at Harold C. Ralph and also worked at GTE Sylvania. She worked at W.C. Ladd Insurance and T.D. Banknorth for 38 years, retiring in 2007.
Elsie spent time gardening and quilting. She loved to travel and to go to Blue Grass Festivals in Maine and the South.
She was a member of the Wiwura Chapter #34 OES Past Matron and held one of the 18 stations at least once. She was a past member of the Waldoboro United Methodist Church. She is member of the North Nobleboro Baptist Church.
Elsie was a grandmother and great-grandmother figure to her companion’s family.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Damon Hilton in 1998; and her brother, Phillip Lee in 2012.
She is survived by her companion, Richard Feld of Waldoboro; daughter, Cathy Foran and husband Brian of Bingham; her son, Damon Hilton Jr. and wife Candy of Jefferson; brother, Herbert Lee and wife Marilyn of Arizona; sister, Beverly Packard and husband Roger of New Hampshire; grandchildren, Drew Foran of Bingham, and Jeffery Hilton of Connecticut; three step-grandchildren, John McCarthy of California, Mary Whitehead of Connecticut, and Margaret Murphy of Texas; sister-in-law, Elaine Lee of St. Paul, Minn.; sister-in-law, Elaine Jones of Camden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Country Manor Nursing Home for all of their loving care over the past year and one-half.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 4 from 5-7 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St. in Waldoboro. An Eastern Star service will be presented at 6:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the North Nobleboro Baptist Church at 1 p.m., with Pastor Bob Bellows officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the North Nobleboro Baptist Church, at 546 Upper East Pond Road, Nobleboro, ME 04555; or to a local food pantry of your choice.
