Elsie Ermina Pearson, 88, died April 15 at Amenity Manor in Topsham. She was born Feb. 9, 1918 in Eliot, the only child of Harvey T. and Ethel Smith Bailey. She lived in Woolwich until 1934 when she moved to Wiscasset. Elsie graduated as valedictorian of the Wiscasset Academy Class of 1935. On June 17, 1939, she married Curtis Pearson and together they lived in Wiscasset for their entire married life. She and her husband enjoyed camping with their camper trailer during the summer and spent several winters in Florida. Elsie sold Avon products in the Wiscasset area for many years, and always remembered her loyal customers. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, UCC Wiscasset and over the years enjoyed the church social activities, most especially the Marco Club. Due to failing health, Elsie has lived at Dionne Commons, Brunswick for the past five years and, most recently, Amenity Manor. She was predeceased by her husband on January 5, 1997. She is survived by nephews Robert E. Sutter and William C. Sutter of Wiscasset and Scott A. Sutter of Boothbay Harbor. Elsie bequeathed her remains to the University of New England Anatomical Donor Program. At her request there will be no funeral.
