Elsie S. Martin passed away on March 27.
She was born Oct. 15, 1918 in Waldoboro, the daughter of Ruth Roxana (Studley) and Millard W. Winchenbach.
Elsie played piano by ear.
She married Edward Martin on July 18, 1944, in St. Patrick’s Church, Washington, D.C., while working at the Pentagon. She also worked as a secretary at the military base in Hattiesburg, Miss., the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dallas, Tex., and Moody’s Diner in Waldoboro.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Edward Martin of Dallas, Tex.; daughter, Joyce Higgins and husband Mike of Waxahachie, Tex.; grandchildren, Michael Kare, Colleen Kare, Kathleen Kare, and Maureen Kare; grandson-in-law, Paul Kare; great-grandchildren, Paulo and Alex Kare; brothers, Virgil Winchenbach and Roy Winchenbach of Waldoboro; and sisters, Arlene Burns of Nobleboro, and Faye Winchenbach of Waldoboro.
Mass of Christian Burial was held March 31 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dallas, Tex. with Very Rev. Timothy Gollob, Celebrant.
Prayer service was held March 30 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel (www.jaynesmemorialchapel.com) in Duncanville, Tex., and visitation followed.
