Emilie S. Preyer, 75, of Wiscasset, passed away at her home on the morning of Jan. 9. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Aug. 21, 1935, she was the daughter of Stephen and Ethel (Clark) Angell.
Emilie grew up in New York City, where she would eventually meet her husband, Charles Preyer. Together they would start a family, living mostly in New York, but also in several other cities before moving to Wiscasset 10 years ago.
She loved singing and was very proud to have been a part of the opera chorus for Aida in Kansas City. Wherever she was, she was very involved in the community; she had acted as a chaplain at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, and most recently was a very active part of the Wiscasset High School. She was a substitute teacher at the high school but also took part in many different extracurricular activities there.
She was predeceased by her parents, as well as a daughter, Beverly Ann Preyer.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Preyer of Wiscasset; daughter, Carolyne Ambrose and husband Richard of Nashville, Ind.; grandson, Christopher Irish and wife Susie of Nashville, Ind.; as well as a great-grandchild, Camille May Irish.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Sat., Jan. 22 at the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset.
