Emily H. Trussell, 89, of Pittston, passed away at the VA home on Feb. 17 after a long illness.
She was born in North Newcastle on Jan. 25, 1922, the daughter of Raymond Sr. and Lillian Walker Emerson.
She attended North Newcastle School and in 1941 graduated from Lincoln Academy.
She was a stay at home mom raising her seven children and helped take care of her grandchildren. She liked canning her own vegetables and making pickles. She liked to bake cakes for Pittston Congregational Church suppers. Her hobbies were bowling, playing cards, camping, crocheting, making quilts for her children and grandchildren, and spending time with the grandchildren. She loved family get-togethers.
Emily married Donald W. Trussell on June 13, 1942. They were married for 62 years until his death on Aug. 4, 2004.
She was predeceased by her husband; parents,; three brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by her seven children, Joan Marston and companion Scott Christie of Pittston, Donald Jr. of Whitefield, Nancy Trussell and companion Curtis Jewett of Pittston, Louise Huntington of Richmond, Stephen and wife Debbie of Pittston, Brian and wife Lucille of Pittston and Wayne and wife Kathy of Alna; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Mon., Feb. 21 at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be beside her husband in the Riverside Cemetery, Pittston later in the spring.
