Ernestine M. Taylor, 82, of Chelsea, passed away with her family by her side after a brief illness and went to be with her husband on March 15.
Ernestine or “Ma” or “Nana” as she was affectionately referred to by those who knew her was born in Bristol on Sept. 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Freeman and Florence (Hale) Geyer.
She was a graduate of Bristol High School, Class of 1947. Ernestine married the love of her life, Orrison A. Taylor on July 25, 1951 and they shared 55 wonderful years together until his passing on Nov. 26, 2006.
Ernestine and her husband were members of Goodwill Circle in Chelsea. While her children were in school, she was very involved in the Parent Teacher Association. She was always helping out with school functions whether it was baking goods or volunteering for the many activities.
Nana was an excellent cook and especially known for her pastries. She enjoyed cooking but her greatest love in her life was her family. She was a wonderful mother and loving Nana.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Wayne E. Taylor and Marshall A. Taylor Sr.; granddaughter, Tonia Taylor; and brother, Franklin Geyer.
Nana is survived by her children, Freeman Taylor and companion Jean Noble of South China, Gerald Geyer and wife Brenda of Whitefield, and Sheila Gaulin of Winslow; brother, Sidney Geyer and wife Marlene of Edgecomb; special nephew, Freeman Geyer and family of Boothbay; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Fri., March 19 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home – Gray Chapel, 207 Windsor Neck Rd., Windsor, where a funeral service will be 11 a.m., Sat., March 20. Burial will occur in the spring at Rest Haven Cemetery in Windsor.
