Esther Rose Lamond, 96, of Damariscotta, passed away on the morning of April 5 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta. Born in Orange, N.J., Sept. 27, 1911, she was the daughter of Walter J. and Mary (Weir) Rose.
A longtime summer resident of Christmas Cove, she and her husband Robert came permanently in 1977, following his retirement from Fireman’s Funds Insurance Company. The couple’s first winter in Maine was during the “Blizzard of 1978” and they remained there until his death in 1999. She and Robert were married nearly 50 years.
Esther loved to read and completed the NY Times crossword puzzle every day for years. She resided at Chase Point, in Damariscotta, from 1999-2008.
She leaves several nieces and nephews.
Services and interment will remain private, for her family.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Strong Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
