Eugene J. Misiaszek, 77, of Friendship, passed away peacefully on Oct. 29 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Eugene was born on May 1, 1930 in Ludlow, Mass., the son of Stanley and Veronica Motyka Misiaszek. Growing up in Ludlow, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Ludlow High School, class of 1948. He was an undergraduate of the University of Massachusetts and received his Masters degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in food technology.
On July 18, 1952, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged from active duty on Sept. 1, 1954 as a Second Lieutenant, remaining active in the reserves.
From 1955-1986, Eugene worked for General Foods in food research and in 1986, retired as director of their research facility near Princeton, N.J. and moved to Friendship in 1986.
He enjoyed golf, bridge and boating out of Friendship Harbor. He was a member of the Food Technology Association.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Annette Misiaszek on March 16, 2007, and brother, Stanley Misiaszek.
Survivors include his son, Steven Misiaszek and wife Melody of Tequesta, Fla.; daughter, Linda Sandefur and husband Glenn of Bremen; and grandchildren, Michael Misiaszek of Tequesta, Fla., and Kevin and Leslie Sandefur of Bremen.
Graveside service 11 a.m., Mon., Nov. 5 at Roadside Cemetery in Friendship with the Celebrant Peta Van Vuuren officiating.
