Evelyn C. Manchester, 64, of Edgecomb, died Dec. 9 at a Portland hospital.
She was born in Yonkers, N.Y., on Jan. 20, 1944, daughter of Louis and Elsie (Nappi) Ciardullo.
She enjoyed cooking and crocheting. She donated her homemade blankets and crafts to many charities in the area. She was an area barber for many years until she retired, only to go to work for the state as a bridge operator. She was the first female bridge operator in Maine.
Surviving are her daughter, Martha Manchester of Bath; son, John Manchester of Dresden; brother, Nicholas Ciardullo of New York; three sisters, Louise Collins of Connecticut, Marion Renna of New York, and Margaret Davis of Florida; and seven nieces and nephews.
Celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
