Evelyn E. Winslow, 75, of Kittery, passed away on June 9 at York Hospital, following a sudden illness.
Born in Windsor on Jan. 31, 1932, she was a daughter of Tilson and Sylvia (Rice) Eugley.
She graduated from Bristol High School, class of 1949. Soon after graduation, she married her loving husband, Ronald G. Winslow, Sr. Together they made their home in Bristol, and for a short time in Connecticut before moving to Kittery where they settled and continued to raise their family.
As her children were growing up, she was active in the Cub Scouts as a den mother, as well as taking them to Little League games. She worked for a time for W.T. Grants in downtown Portsmouth and each spring for a number of years she helped Mrs. Wilson open up the Mrs. & Me Ice Cream Shop and help out until the kids got out of school and took over serving the customers.
Her first love was unquestionably her family. She enjoyed all the family activities, crocheting, playing bridge, quilting, as well as baking, especially cakes.
She is survived by her father, Tilson Eugley of Bristol; daughter, Pamela Winslow-Knapp and husband William Knapp of Virginia; sons, Ronald Jr. and wife Andrea Winslow of York, Thomas and wife Marie Winslow of Lebanon, and Darryl Winslow of Wells; grandchildren, William and wife Karla Knapp, Matthew Knapp, and Shannon Saucier and husband Randy; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Carignan and Talyn Saucier; twin sisters, Jane and husband Kenneth Longe of South Bristol, and Jean and husband Norman Chase of Bristol; and a number of nieces and nephews.
